Monte Cristo Kontu, Fransız yazar Alexandre Dumas'ın ünlü romanından uyarlanmış bir dizidir. Haksız yere vatana ihanetle suçlanan denizci Edmond Dantes'in trajik hikayesini anlatmaktadır. Dantes, Marsilya açıklarındaki Château d'If Adası'ndaki hapishanede yıllarca haksız yere hapsedilir. Burada başından geçenlerin ardından kaçmayı başarır ve Monte Cristo Kontu kimliğini alarak intikam almak üzere geri döner. Artık zengin, karizmatik ve acımasız biri olan Dantes, kendisini haksız yere suçlayanlardan intikam almaya kararlıdır.
